IES supplies its customers with static public IP addresses. Most customers need one IP address and then use the NAT (Network Address Translation) functionality of their router to provide Internet services for multiple computers. Customer using USB modems also get one static IP address. If a customer can show a need for more than one IP address such as public facing mailservers, additional firewalls or VPN devices then Moving-edge can provide additional IP addresses.
Customers using USB modems should run and regularly maintain 3rd party firewall software. Customer using routers are strongly advised to consider models with enhanced firewall capabilities or additional dedicated hardware firewalls. Those with 'statefull' functionality can be considered superior in preventing attacks initiated from the public Internet. |
